This summer has been full of comforting music, food, and hot tea, and lots of outdoor activities. My fitness and exercise used to not extend past running a couple times a week and hot yoga, but this summer I got a little more adventurous. It started with trail running, then paddle board yoga, and then on to cycling. Here are ten things I can’t get enough of lately!
Peaches and Blackberries
I’m going to be one sad Georgia peach when this season is over, because the peaches and blackberries have been extra sweet this year. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times this summer I’ve sat on the patio with the girl’s eating peaches, getting our hands to our elbows sticky with peach juice.

Pancakes
We’ve been making lots of pancakes in this house lately. They’re a fun thing to make with the little one’s by my side and great for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snacks! We’ve tried so many different kinds of pancakes. You’ll get one of the new gluten-free recipes tomorrow!

Brooks Running Shoes
This is nothing new, I’ve been a Brooks girl for years, but recently I traded in my Ravenna shoes for the Pure Cadence. I love this shoe! Great arch support, very light, and super soft materials. The newest addition to my shoe collection is the Brooks Pure Grit trail shoes for my Sunday morning trail run along the Chattahoochee River and Lake Lanier.
Road Bike
I’ve crossed over into the world of cycling. Up until a few weeks ago, I always said I would never get into cycling or do a triathlon. I’ve also said, “I’ll never be able to run a marathon”, and “I’ll never be a blogger.” You would think by now I would know to never say never. I’ve logged a handful of rides in the two weeks I’ve had my bike. I’m comfortable with clipping in and out, and getting better with handling hills, curves, and gears. Next step, getting more comfortable riding with cars whizzing by me.
Patty Griffin
While listening to Amos Lee radio on Pandora a few weeks ago, a Patty Griffin song came on. It had been a while since I’ve listened to her but with one note I was hooked again. Her voice can be as soft and sweet as a whisper and as powerful as fireworks, all in the same verse. And the words she sings are so honest and heartfelt, she could break a heart made of stone. I love good, honest, music with a soulful voice to back it up.
Good Earth Cocoa Chai Tea
Cocoa and Chai, what’s not to love about this one! Even in the dead of summer here in Atlanta, I love a hot drink mid-afternoon. It’s so comforting, and a little caffeine kick doesn’t hurt either. This has been my go to drink in the afternoons — a little sweet from the cocoa, and lots of flavor from the chai spices. Perfect.
Real Salt
I just learned about Real Salt at a recent baking class. Real Salt has no chemicals, additives, or heat processing. Their salt is “real” salt and contains 60+ trace minerals.

Sunflowers
Yellow is my favorite color, and flowers make me smile, so what’s not to love about these big, bright, beautiful flowers! I’m lucky to drive past a couple different fields close to my house everyday. I just took the girl’s to one of the fields to pick some flowers and have photos taken with our photographer. That will be an annual tradition, for sure!
Beets
Get. In. My. Juicer! Almost every juice I’ve made over the last couple of weeks has beets. Beets provide so many vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and are great cleansing, and providing stamina to athletes. I love the color and the taste they add to juices!

Herb Garden
I wouldn’t say I have a green thumb just yet, but my herb garden did great this summer! I have more basil and mint than I know what to do with. I’ve been using basil for pesto, and mint in my juices, and still have plenty to spare. I’m about to clip some to put in the freezer to use later in the year. The $3 pot of organic herbs was the purchase that just keeps on giving!
What are some of your favorites this summer?

Great post! I am looooving biking too. Feels like being a kid again! It’s really a shame we don’t live closer…
I’m going to look for that salt too.. you find so many great products!
I wish we lived closer, too! We’ll have to plan to meet somewhere in the middle soon. Glad you enjoyed the post! Have a great day!
I’ve been nuts on beets lately. The ones I grew in my garden are kind of a flop but maybe I’ll get a couple babies out of the crop. Where do you find the real salt?
And the new blog design looks great!
