Gluten Free S’mores

Gluten Free S’mores

My house is buzzing with energy!  Four toddlers running wild, the oldest is my daughter who just turned four.  Our friends just arrived and I had plenty of crafts ready to keep them busy this afternoon.  Crafts are the easiest way for me to keep them all entertained.  It’s educational, good for motor skills, and there are endless ideas.  Here are a few simple craft ideas.

  • I always keep some sticker scenes from Oriental Trading around the house.  They are inexpensive and no mess involved.
  • The girls will glue pasta or cereal onto paper to make shapes and designs.  It involves more help from me and the glue can be a little messy but it’s all easy clean up.
  • I just recently tried using the pencil erasers as stamps.  It worked pretty well.  I found the idea on Pinterest and already had everything to give it a try!  There was very little mess but it did not keep my girls attention very long.  Maybe when they are a little older it’ll be more entertaining.

Now onto the s’mores!  This was an easy way to keep the kids entertained and it’s not as messy as s’mores in the fireplace.  I found gluten-free graham crackers at Whole Foods and also marshmallows.  I ground up the graham crackers in the food processor and melted chocolate over a double boiler.  The lollipop sticks are from a craft store and they made this so easy for the kids to dip the marshmallows.  If you are looking for a healthier option you could use bananas to dip into chocolate and graham crackers.

Then the little hands took over dipping the marshmallows into the chocolate first and then the graham crackers.  We all had a great time making these, and eating them too!

Enjoy!  Happy Free Friday.
