Peach season makes me one happy girl, and living in Georgia makes it even sweeter. Last weekend we were at our local farmers market and bought a 1/2 peck of local organic peaches, about 16 peaches total. I thought for sure I would have enough for us to snack on, and use the leftovers to grill for dessert or make peach jam but every last peach disappeared within two days. I guess it’s safe to say we all love peaches. :)
Not only are they tasty, but very nutritious! They are a good source of vitamins A and C, potassium, fiber, and are made up of about 80% water so they’ll help keep you hydrated in the hot summer months. Peach extracts are said to be good at softening and revitalizing your skin, which is why you will find them in exfoliants, masks, and creams. There are only about 60 calories per peach, but plenty of sweet flavor is coming along with those few calories. Just beware, peaches are on the dirty dozen. Make sure you clean the peaches really well before eating them, and buy organic if it’s available.
Happy Smoothie Saturday!
