Frozen Grape Pops

Frozen Grape Pops

I can remember as a child, my dad snacking on frozen fruit at night.  He would buy large bags with a mixture of melons, and grapes and freeze them.  I was never crazy about the frozen melons, but I did love the frozen grapes.  When frozen, grapes have a texture similar to sorbet, sweet and smooth, but without all the added sugar.

I bought popsicle sticks at a craft store and let my girl’s help me add the grapes.  There were lots of giggles, and silly moments while making these.  Grapes were slipping out of their hands, and they used the grape pops as magic wands casting spells on each other.  My 4-year-old loved making the pops, and my 2-year-old was more concerned with eating all the grapes before we could get them on the pop sticks.  It was a perfect afternoon.  I love our memories together in the kitchen.

After you get a few grapes on each popsicle stick, put them in the freezer for a couple hours, and you end up with a sweet little treat!  And nothing to feel guilty about since 1/2 cup of grapes on has about 50 calories, and plenty of vitamins!

This is the perfect after school snack, great for play dates, or parties!  Grapes are on the dirty dozen so buy organic if it’s available.  If it’s not, be sure to clean the grapes well before putting them on the sticks and freezing.

It’s FREE FRIDAY on Green Plate Rule, and this snack is free of just about everything!  Gluten-free, fat-free, dairy-free, nut-free, vegan, and free from dirty dishes and baking.  :)

Enjoy!
