I posted a Chocolate Banana PB smoothie a while back but I’ve been using different ingredients lately so I wanted to share! It is important to use a frozen banana in this smoothie. It really helps thicken the smoothie so it’s similar to a milkshake. I’ve reduced the amount of banana to half of a large banana. This helps to reduce the overall sugar, but it doesn’t hurt the texture or taste of the smoothie at all! One serving of this smoothie only has about 12 grams of sugar, and will satisfy any sweet tooth or hunger cravings.
I read months ago about the benefits of bee pollen but it wasn’t until recently that I started using it daily. Science shows bee pollen aids beauty, boosts energy and immunity, fights diseases such as cancer, and relieves digestive disorders. Maybe it’s just coincidence but since I’ve been using it I’ve had so much energy! I buy Y.S. Organic Farms Bee Pollen granules at my local Whole Foods but it is also available online.
This is everyone’s favorite in my house, and always what I make after my long run on Saturday mornings! Hope you enjoy the new and improved version too!

- Start on a low speed, and slowly increase to high

Great recipe. Another tip to lower calories and fat is to use PB2, a natural peanut butter powder by Bell Plantation. I buy at our health market.
Hi Julie, I have not tried PB2 yet but I keep hearing about it. I’ll have to look into getting some! Thank you for the tip. Have a great day. ~Victoria
I could live off of these if I had the option. Where do you find flax milk? I heard of it awhile back but I haven’t found it anywhere
Hi Heather! I found it at my local Whole Foods. It’s made by Good Karma Foods, maybe you could check their website for a store locator! It’s really good! Have a great day. ~Victoria
We tried it this afternoon~ delicious! I substituted for almond butter and almond milk because of allergies. Overall excellent!
So glad you all enjoyed the smoothie, Abby! Have a great day!
I bought bee pollen, Earth Keepers, today at Harry’s. It is made here in the area. What else can I do with it beside this smoothie? This is all new to us. Do you give it to the girls? Since Davis has never been stung, the girl at Harry’s suggested we keep it away from him. Both of us were clueless on bee pollen but anything that boosts energy, I am all over. We are going to the Vitamix demo next weekend. We are not quite there yet but I would like to see it in action.
Hi Emily! I will give it to the girls when it’s mixed into a smoothie but only a very small amount. I have also added it to hot tea, and oatmeal but usually I just add it to my morning smoothie. I can’t wait to go to the Vitamix demo!! I’ve had my Vitamix for almost four years and LOVE it. I still enjoy going to the demos to get new ideas. Once you see it, and taste what they make, you’ll be hooked!
Enjoy, can’t wait to hear what you think of the Vitamix and Bee Pollen!
