February Challenges

Great Job to all those who participated in January’s Challenge for a Change!  Lots of options to get you kick started into a year of healthy living.  Hope you are all sticking to your new years resolutions – eating healthy and exercising!!!

It seems we had a lot of folks starting the Couch to 5k (C25K) or 5K101 plans as a resolution and we’ve had a ton of requests for a virtual race….. and how can we deny our fans?

So this month we are keeping it simple and hosting the Healthy Heart Virtual 5k/10k!!! 
To enter all you have to do is complete both challenges below:

  • Fitness Challenge:
    Run or walk 5k, 10k or Half Marathon (for the over achievers) any day in February!
  • Healthy Eating Challenge: 
    Record what you ate for dinner the night before your run and what you ate pre-run.  Once a week this month I will feature recipes that are good to help fuel the body before a run and re-fuel the body after a run.  Along with advice and inspiration for those of you of who are just starting to run or looking to get to the next milestone.

Bonus Challenges: We will be offering a number ‘bonus’ challenges on both the Green Plate Rule facebook page and the Moms RUN This Town facebook page so make sure you “like” us and keep up with whats going on!!!  Here are two to get you started….

When you’ve completed the Virtual Race head over to our website and fill out the form.  One winner will be drawn at random to win a  prize package including:

  • Barlean’s Chocolate Silk Greens – this delicious powder taste like chocolate but has 20 different fruits and vegetables per serving!
  • headband from Active Bands - great for running on the trails, or errands around town.
  • … and more!!

If you haven’t read all the rules and regs for the 2012 Challenge for a Change PLEASE do so by clicking HERE.  We will post the sign up form later in the week.  As always, please consult with your doctor before starting a fitness routine or changing your diet.  

You must complete the virtual 5k/10k/Half Marathon by either walking or running – AND you have to include your meal the night before to be eligible.  Anyone can participate but you must be a resident of the USA or Canada to be eligible for prizes. 

Get the Bib (again, this is not mandatory to print or wear during your run, but you WILL get an extra entry if we see a photo of you with it ;) )
